Altered Cigar Box

I recently received a parcel of vintage buttons, and it arrived in a very tatty looking cigar box which was crying out for a new lease of life.....and here it is!
I went with a romantic vintage theme, layering paper and lace and a variety of flowers and embellishments.
I think the box is the perfect home for my growing collection of vintage postcards. I loved this little project.....off to find something else to 'rescue' !!

c'est moi !

 I wasnt very happy with my first attempt at an art journal page. I loved the background but felt the page lacked a personal touch, so I decided to work on it some more! I even did  a little self portrait ( includes a liberal helping of artistic licence lol)

I really enjoyed working on it and im kinda happy with the result :)

Ive learned a new lesson today - not to leave my project drying on the craft table.....Ive just discovered the journal page I made last night has had final finishing touches added to it by my 6 year old son Jack.....black acrylic paint of all things!! Maybe he's trying to let me know he wants to make a journal too :-)

Not to worry though, my PROPER art journal has arrived today, a very lovely Moleskine along with a fabulous haul of artistic delights.

I am now in something of a quandry.....do I catch up with the housework Ive neglected whilst rediscovering creativity or do I play with my new stash.....hmmmm.....decisions decisions!!

First Lesson....

Well I did it! I made something. I have started an art journal page.

I created a background using pages from an old french novel, coloured with water soluble pastels and acrylic paints, sprayed with gold glimmer mist. The flower embellishment I made using a 12" piece of lace topped with a vintage button.

Today I am going to make something. From start to finish. This is a huge challenge for me as I feel wary of making mistakes......I know some people say theres no mistakes in art but when its been four years.....anyhow, before I talk myself out of it, here goes!

my art journey continues.....

It has been over four years since I last ventured into blogging or crafting, and much has changed in those four years!
 Ive moved house twice, begun a new relationship, coped with a great deal of heartache and overcome some very difficult times......and now I feel ready to unpack my boxes of craft stuff, inks, paints, stamps etc that havnt seen the light of day for so long I feel slight concern that Ive forgotten how to use them.....thank goodness for youtube!
I was hoping to reclaim my old blog but Ive no idea what my sign in details were so Ive had to start afresh. Blogger has changed so much since I was last here.... may take me a while to figure this out again.
Im off to rediscover bloggs I used to love visiting, Im sure I will be inspired to get creative once again.....feeling a wee bit excited woop!!!!
